Affordable and Clean Energy

Contributing to the diversification of Brazil’s energy matrix and the adoption of renewable energy, reducing environmental impact and greenhouse gas emissions while promoting economic development and technological innovation, is one of Grupo K1’s commitments.
Affordable and Clean Energy
  Unit 2025 2024 2023
Total energy consumption kWh kWh   25.985.233,78 22.451.046,00
of renewable energy % %   100% 100%

Renewable energy sources are considered clean because they emit fewer greenhouse gases (GHGs) than fossil, non-renewable sources.
Considering how climate change may affect Brazilian homes, Grupo K1 began, in 2022, to invest in and purchase 100% renewable energy from the free energy market, thereby obtaining the I-REC Certification.

The International Renewable Energy Certificates, also known as I-RECs, verify the clean origin of the energy used by the company. Each I-REC represents 1 MWh of generated renewable energy, offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions associated with electricity consumption. In addition to purchasing renewable energy, the K1 Northeast Business Unit has its own energy generation system through solar panels. This system produces approximately 12,000 kWh per month, which represents 64% of the unit’s total energy consumption in 2025.

Thermal energy consumption within Grupo K1 also comes from renewable sources. Wood waste generated from the company's production process is used as fuel in the facility’s boiler. Beyond ensuring proper waste disposal, this practice avoids the use of other fuels in the boiler, contributing to the preservation of natural resources.

Grupo K1 invests in renewable energy because it believes that actions like this can mitigate climate change and its effects on the environment and society.

Only with a balanced and fair environment can people live in the homes of their dreams, and Grupo K1 wants to be part of that, not only by providing quality products, but also by preserving the environment.

Grupo K1 works continuously to improve energy efficiency. Actions include reducing equipment setup times, replacing fluorescent lamps with LED lighting, replacing old motors with more efficient models, and implementing industrial automation to decrease energy consumption. In addition, trainings are provided to employees to raise awareness about the importance of minimizing energy use, and this topic is also addressed within the company’s improvement groups.

We monitor energy consumption relative to the volume of raw materials used, as well as the percentage of increases or reductions compared to previous years.

Energy consumption per volume of raw material
Business Unit Unit % Increase/Decrease vs. previous year 2024 2023
Headquarters kWh/m³ -6,08 188,89 201,11
Tupandi Branch kWh/m³ -19,75 157,12 195,77
Bom Princípio Branch kWh/m³ +23,16 1.072,76 871,06
Sapucaia do Sul Branch kWh/m³ -18,14 12,45 15,21
Northeast Branch kWh/m³ -5,24 117,70 124,21

It can be observed that in 2024 there were, overall, reductions in energy consumption relative to the volume of raw materials used, with the exception of the Bom Princípio Branch. These reductions are the result of actions implemented in the industrial process and employee awareness campaigns aimed at minimizing energy consumption.

Energy consumption in relation to the volume of raw materials used and reduction target
  Unit 2025 2024 2023
Average Consumption of the Group kWh/mês   2.167.457,56 1.909.055,32
Weighted percentage of reduction or increase in energy consumption relative to the volume of raw materials used, compared to the previous year Weighted Reduction Target %   -5,50% 9,46%
Meta Redução Ponderada %   -0,82%

Based on the table above, it can be observed that energy consumption relative to the volume of raw materials used decreased in 2024 compared to 2023. There was a 5.5% reduction, while Grupo K1’s target was 0.82%.
